Purpose of the Site
Michigan public-records law gives the public a way to seek many government records, but custody information is still split by office and record type. In Huron County, the sheriff runs the local jail for arrests, warrants, short local custody, and other jail holds. MDOC runs a separate locator for sentenced prisoners and some people on state supervision. Federal sentenced prisoners, immigration detainees, and federal pretrial matters are handled outside the county jail system.
This site is built as a plain-language reference for those paths. It explains the lack of an official online Huron County, Michigan jail roster in the reviewed county sources, the role of the jail phone for current custody questions, the records and FOIA path for booking records or photos, and the separate court and state locator systems that may apply after an arrest.
What Is Included
The pages focus on Huron County, Michigan record access rather than generic inmate-search claims.
- Local custody guidance through jail inmate records, booking-photo context through jail roster mugshots, and filed-charge information through court records after a jail arrest.
- A facility page for the Huron County Jail with the Bad Axe address, jail phone, operator, visitation vendor note, and records-request context.
- Explanations of the difference between county jail custody, MDOC OTIS state custody, VINELink Michigan notification, BOP federal custody, and ICE detainee lookup.
- Records-oriented guidance for requesting a booking record or booking photo when the county does not publish the item through an official online roster.

Search Partners
Some search boxes or record-search tools on the site may be supplied by outside search partners. Those providers set their own prices, account terms, data practices, and result limits. If a visitor follows a partner tool and signs up for a paid service, this site may receive a referral fee. That support helps keep the reference pages available, but it does not give this site control over the partner's charges, records, or search results.
